This year's theme was "Diplomacy in Times of Crisis" and featured panelists from all across the world willing to share their work experience during crisis situations as well as their thoughts on the emerging trends and challenges of diplomacy. We were happy to host two panels, Practicing Diplomacy: Critical Changes in the International Landscape & Encountering Diplomacy: Multiple Approaches to Conflict and Humanitarian Crisis, followed by workshops.
Our first panel, composed of young professionals working from the American and European Missions to the UN, aimed to show how diplomatic practice adapts in response to critical events and changes in foreign policy. The focus was to see how these changes are translated in their everyday work. Find the names of panelists below!
Our second panel brought high-level panellists from different diplomatic traditions: parliamentary diplomacy, multilateral diplomacy, and humanitarian diplomacy. They explained what diplomacy looks like based of their different experiences highlighting the challenges, opportunities, successes and failures, as well as how the diplomatic practice has evolved over their respective career in times of conflicts and crisis situations. The panels was followed by a choice of 3 workshops for participants:
- Crisis Management with GCSP -
- Big Data & Humanitarian Affairs with DiploFoundation & ICRC -
- Mediation with Swisspeace -
