November - Protocol & Etiquette for the Modern Diplomat
JDI's last event of the year: “Protocol & Etiquette for the Modern Diplomat” workshop, was made highly remarkable by the presence of Mr. Jean-Marc Boulgaris, former ambassador of Switzerland and senior consultant to UNITAR. Apart from sharing his real-world knowledge and personal experience as the Deputy Chief of Protocol he gave us first-hand training on the topic. This was both inspiring and highly informative. A great, big thank you to Mr. Boulgaris and to everyone who attended!
October - The Role of Gender in Diplomacy
JDI had the privilege to host a discussion on 'The Role of Gender in Diplomacy' with H.E Ambassador Yvette Stevens, Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone to the UN. Ms. Stevens inspired us by sharing her story as a female engineer, diplomat and now Ambassador in the highly patriarchal UN system. In addition, being one of the many pledgers of the International Geneva Gender Champions, she shed light on the initiative as well as her personal pledge.
September - Visit to the Palais des Nations
JDI Switzerland organised a visit to the Palais des Nations in the framework of the Day of General Discussion on “Children’s Rights and Environment”. We had a sneak peek of the discussions with NGOs, academics, and experts responsible for reviewing progress made by States parties in implementing the Convention on the Rights of the Child and contribute to the work of the Committee on the Rights of the Child. If you are interested in the report and recommendations that followed this discussion, you can find them here: http://www.ohchr.org/…/HRBodi…/CRC/Pages/Discussion2016.aspx
